It was Judge Judy, but not the present television personality, who was the topic of Terri Wargo's presentation last Wednesday. Ms. Wargo is the librarian at the West Lebanon library (..More) and also is president of the Warren County Historical Association. Her review of John Findley Judy and the planting of Judyville filled her report to the breakfast meeting of the Attica-Williamsport Rotary Club. She presented a talk laced with his activities, spanning a lifetime from farmer to banker, inventor, builder, and entrepreneur who even designed and made his own money. He was a busy and productive man. ..>>More. While Warren County lays claims to his major achievements, it is Attica that claimed his mortal remains. President Geyer announced that Jennifer M. Fehrenbach (..More) would become a new member of the club. He also announced that Eric Wilson of Seeger High School would receive the Harvey Norman Student Progress Award. Eric is being selected for his consistent and significant overall improvement during his four years of high school. Mr. Norman's original stipulation was that the award go to a boy in the senior class, but because of Rotary's acceptance of women to their membership, that stipulation will no longer be a requirement. Attica's selection will go to a girl in the senior class. President Robert Geyer reminded the members
of the Reality Fair scheduled for 16 and 17 May at the Beef House. Eighth grade
students from the bi-county schools are invited to participate. Please see
Cindy Mason to volunteer for a time slot and work station.
Jared Jernigan, a candidate for Rotary's Ambassadorial Scholarship met with the local screening committee in preparation for his district interview. He was able to present his reasons for submitting the application and what he hoped to achieve if he is selected. |
