Judy Hollander appears thrilled to have Bill Craft putting a dollar in the Happy Bucks basket. Bill passed around the basket last week and almost set the record for the most money  collected.  The dollar you see in his hand, had it been contributed last week, would have put him over the top and he could have claimed the record.  Sorry Bill..........More


Steve Poston, co-chair of the Ambassadorial  Scholarship Committee, explained the program and ask all club members for help in identifying potential candidates for consideration. There is a 20 page application to complete and then an interview process.  Scholarships are given to students wanting to stay overseas for a year and who are normally sent to a foreign speaking country.  He provided a brochure on the Robert and Alice Todd Endowment and also the Rotary International brochure .......More


Kathy Turpin reports on the status of the Christmas project.  There have been 16 clothing outfits provided.  Eight for girls and eight for boys.  

A separate cash donation will be going to a family where the Mother suffered a tragic accident last summer.

Other meeting happenings:

The nominating committee will meet and develop a slate of potential officers to be submitted to the membership for their consideration. Andy Van Hyfte is chairman of that committee.
 
The Christmas meeting is scheduled for 21 December at the Country Club.  There will be a Cookie Contest.   Read more and follow the rules.
 
President Bob Geyer announced that the Education Assistance Award will be expanded to include the elementary schools in Warren County. The awards are meant to act as a stimulus for teachers to develop new ideas that assist student learning.  Recipients will be asked to report to the club before and after implementing their program. A plaque will be hung in each building and the name of the recipient will be inscribed on it.

Bob also reported that the local club's donation of $500.00 for the Grahamstown Orphanage project was received in September. This initial contribution,  through matching funds, had grown to $4500.00. 
 
Steve Odore and his son will report in a follow-up program on their volunteer efforts with their church's mission in building housing in Mexico.
