Rotary members marched in to Harrison Hills Country Club last Wednesday
to the strains of "When the Saints Come Marching In," when
District Governor, Martin Limbird, made his final visit as District
Governor to the Attica-Williamsport Club and entertained the group with
his accordion and trombone.
(Yes, Mary Catherine, it will be over in just
a few more weeks)
Most would say it was a perfect initiation for Kathy Poston and
Jennifer Fehrenbach who became the Club's newest members. Mr. Limbird
inducted them.
Mr. Limbird, in his final comments to the club, lauded the local
efforts to "make a difference in the world," and he singled out
President Bob Geyer for his leadership and Suzann Shackleton's
"land-breaking work," with the ambassadorial scholarship
program.

Steve Poston, quickly gaining a reputation of a local historian, presented
a program on local history and a presentation of memorabilia from earlier
times including a mathematics textbook from 1811 and a family encyclopedia
from 1831. Among the documents was an original copy of Thomas Payne's
"Common Sense." He gave examples of history and geography once
taught children in our country is now is forbidden in our schools. His
advise was to save correspondence because letters are a source of history
and they assist in fleshing out the time they were written.
