Angela Rusk of Warren County, a Rotary Ambassadorial Scholar, met with the Attica-Williamsport Rotary Club last Wednesday morning as she prepares to leave in February for Melbourne, Australia. She was the recipient of the Robert and Alice Todd scholarship that now provides her the opportunity of advancing her work in physical therapy in the land down under. Ms. Rusk, who holds a degree from the University of Evansville and works in Lafayette, will leave the United States about the middle of next month. In addition to expressing her appreciation for the opportunities that await her, she gave her prepared talk and PowerPoint presentation that she will present to Rotary Clubs in Australia. She draws comparisons between the two countries and emphasized the importance of mutual cooperation necessary to common progress. Ms. Rusk reminded us that the Attica-Williamsport Rotary Club was founded in January 1937; the first ever bi-county club chartered, and received that honor from Paul Harris, the founder of Rotary, who came to Mudlavia to personally make the presentation. In addition, Ms. Rusk identifies the some activities of the local club, including the Reality Fair for 8th grade students from the bi-county area, its Apples for Teachers, the Christmas project for needy children and adults. She also reports on international service projects of the local club and its efforts in polio eradication, safe water, its participation in sending a fire truck and fire equipment to a small village in Mexico, and the forty-four wheel chairs to a Mexico district. Her presentation is supported with exhibit material for display. She will be an excellent representative of Rotary and of the community from which she comes.
