Carolyn J. (Borst) Paulson
, Williamsport - Carolyn J. (Borst) Paulson, 71, Williamsport, died in the St. Clare Medical Center, Crawfordsville, on Tuesday, December 18, 2007, at 8:30 a.m.
Carolyn was born in Williamsport, Indiana, on July 25, 1936. She was the daughter of Frances Mary Ellen Kirts Borst and the late George Ray Borst.

Carolyn was a 1954 graduate of Attica High School and the St. Elizabeth School of Nursing in 1957. Carolyn served as a registered nurse, working at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Lafayette; St. Elizabeth Hospital, Denver, CO; Peninsula Hospital, Burlingame, CA and as a nurse for Drs. Smith & Marquette in Burlingame, CA. She had lived in Lafayette, Denver and for 36 years in California, where she resided in Burlingame and Saratoga until moving to Williamsport in 1996.

On September 26, 1964, Carolyn married George Nick Paulson in Belmont, CA. He was an airline pilot for TWA and preceded her in death on January 7, 2001.

While living in California, Carolyn was very active in volunteer work. She served as Library Chairman, Hospitality Chairman and Ways & Means Chairman for the Hansen Home & School Club; Hospitality Chairman and Grad Night Chairman for the Miller Jr. High; AYSO Region 64 Area Referee Scheduler, Treasurer and Boys Coach for the Soccer League; Lynbrook High School Hospitality Chairman and Grad Night Treasurer; member of the San Jose Symphony Auxiliary; served on the newsletter of the West Valley Welcomers Committee and chairman of the Gourmet Club; member of numerous bridge and duplicate clubs.

While living in Williamsport she became active in the community by belonging to many organizations. She had attended the Attica First United Methodist Church. Carolyn was a member of the Attica-Williamsport Rotary Club. She was a member of the Monday Club, where she served as Treasurer; member of the Danville Alzheimer’s Support Group, serving as Treasurer; member of the Friends of the Warren County Library & Learning Center, serving as Treasurer; served as a Financial Advisor for the Warren County Community Foundation Committee; served on the Historical Landmarks of Fountain County, Associate of Tri Kappa Sorority and started the Investment Club 3rd St. Speculators. She was an avid bridge player and was a member of numerous bridge and duplicate clubs.

Surviving are her mother, Frances Borst, Williamsport; two sons, Gregory (Keri) Paulson, Truckee, CA; Christopher (Mary) Paulson, Coralville, IA; a brother, G.W. “Bill” (Jill) Borst, Williamsport; a sister, Sandra (Bill) Deck, Attica; two grandchildren, Mia & Nicholos Paulson, Truckee, CA; four nieces, Carrie (Mike) Brier, Attica; Cathy (Brian) Williams, Indianapolis; Megan (Kyle) Cornelius, Washington, IN and Leah Borst, Williamsport.

Friends may call at the Maus Funeral Home, Attica, on Friday, Dec. 21st from 11:00 a.m. until service time at 1:00 p.m. Burial will follow in the Riverside Cemetery, Attica. Memorial contributions may be made to Warren County Community Foundation “Paulson Library Fund”; Attica Community Foundation “Class of 1954 Scholarship Fund; Alzheimer’s Association or the America Cancer Society.
