Mr. Dale White of the Western Indiana Community Foundation Inc.
Presents program for the Attica-Williamsport Rotary Club
Mr. Dale White, director of the Western Indiana Community Foundation Inc., gave the program for the Attica-Williamsport Rotary Club on Wednesday, August 29th, 2007. Mr. White administers the three local affiliate community foundations that are active in Fountain county: The Community Foundations of Attica, Covington and Southeast Fountain.
Wednesday morning’s program explained what the community foundation does in each community. The foundation has a three-step process Mr. White described as GETS, GROWS and GIVES. These steps allows the community board members in each community to fundraise for money, the foundation then grows the money through investments and then ultimately, the money is returned through community grants. Mr.. White described the many different ways money is invested and how it is paid back into the community. A Western Indiana Community Foundation Inc. newsletter was distributed and detailed the many ways the foundations of Attica, Covington and Southeast Fountain have been supporting many worthwhile community activities.
Local non-profit groups that have benefited from the generosity of local donations to the Western Indiana Community Foundations Inc. have been: Attica High School to construct a baseball and softball field facility for concessions, restrooms and storage, the d’Arlier Center to help archive memorabilia from the Booe, Inlow and d’Arlier families, the Community Action Program to purchase a new MAC van for transporting the elderly in the community, Women’s Resource Center in Covington for start-up costs and computers, NICHES Land Trust for improvements at the Shawnee Bottoms Nature Reserve, Attica Public Library for new computers, the Covington Little League, Covington-Veedersburg Library, Potawatomi Festival and many others too numerous to list.
Mr. White encouraged all to acquaint themselves with the Western Indiana Community Foundation Inc. organization and consider continuing the foundations mission:
