August 14, 2009 Rotary International President Elect Ray Klinginsmith and his wife Judie visited District 6560
Submitted by Suzann Shackleton:
Fellow Rotarians-
What a "Hoosier Homecoming" the District
had for Rotary International President Elect Ray Klinginsmith and his wife
Judie this week!
One of the highlights of his visit was
meeting with TRF Alumni Chair Jane Gelhausen in Muncie. He talked about the
plans being made for the TRF Alumni Celebration for the New Orleans
International Convention in June 2011.....He suggested either a bus or train
pilgrammage! He talks about sailing to Cape Town, South Africa from New
Orleans when he was an Ambassadorial Scholar in 1961 and he will be back in
New Orleans for his convention 50 years later.
DG Judy Hollander did a wonderful job introducing Ray
Friday morning at the "Eastern" RCs meeting in Muncie. As she said, it was
hard to respond to such a great presentation.
After the Lebanon Rotary Club meeting, he
took time to educate Autumn Keller Hicks and Peace Fellow Alumni Emily Todd
(picture attached) about the baggage charges of over a thousand dollars they
incurred going to Glasgow, Scotland. The A-W RC was well represented at
the Lebanon meeting: DG Judy and RC President Dave Hollander, Shack and
Wilma Shackleton, Emily Todd, Autumn Keller Hicks and me.
Dave's Happy Buck was that he and Gabby
were looking forward to Judy coming home after a week on the road.
