President Cindy Mason welcomes members and guests to the Anniversary Dinner

Judy and Dave Hollander lead the club in singing an inspirational song
cheering on
the Indianapolis Colts who started their AFC Championship game during our
dinner.

Club historian Steve Poston shares many of the highlights of the Charter
Night in 1937.
The club is very lucky to have such an archive of original documents, newspaper
clippings, programs and photographs that can be shared and enjoyed. The
club is also extremely fortunate to have someone like Steve to keep and protect
our history. He read from the original newspaper article describing the
meeting at Mudlavia on January 19, 1937. He pointed out that the club
became an official Rotary Club five days earlier on the 14th.
Many of the charter members of the club had been meeting on a regular basis for
lunch and had been involved in community activities. Rotary provided a set
of ideals and goals that many believed good for themselves as well as the
community and in the short time from the initial contact to the charter night 35
local business men were listed as charter members. Steve has presented
morning programs for the club several times over the past year. You can
read some highlights of those programs and more of club history by looking in
the Program Archives listed on our home page. We again want to thank Steve
for his presentation and for all he contributes to the club.

Our guest speaker was Emily Todd
Emily is a Rotary World Peace Finalist and will be attending The University of
Queensland, Brisbane, Queensland, Australia starting in 2008. She gave us
her background information and why she wanted to apply for the program.
