Subject: Hello from Down Under
Hello Suzann and the
Attica-Williamsport Rotary Club:)
Hope all is well with you. I have been
quite busy this last couple weeks with school. We are doing an
intensive 2 week course and are in classes from 9am until 5pm Wed, Thurs,
Fri; until 6pm on Mondays; and until 8:15pm on Tuesdays. It will begin
to slow down a little next week as we will start to prepare for our
clinical placements. Classes are quite interesting. I am getting good
reminders of physiology and also being encouraged to critically review
the current treatment techniques and theories I have been using.
Commuting between Glen Waverely and the University of Melbourne has
been an easy transition. The train station is within a 5 minute walk
from my house and the train takes me straight into the city. I can
then choose to take one tram from there to the corner of the university or
I have been choosing to walk the 20 mintues to the campus. The
weather has been quite nice and I am enjoying being able to have some
physical activity before sitting in lectures the rest of the
day.
I have been in contact (by e-mail to this
date) with my fellow Ambassadorial Scholars. There are 4 new Scholars
and 2 scholars that have not yet left Melbourne. The District
conference is at the end of this month and we are preparing a presentation
to give to the Rotarians and to participate in the conference meetings.
My club stated that they will sponsor me and place me in a room with another
scholar....however, this is still in the workings. The conference is
in Geelong this year, which is about 1 1/2 hours outside of Melbourne
Proper. The Carlton Rotary club was very supportive during the
"mysterious displacement" of my scholarship money. Melissa
is now my official Host Counselor and has been sending me the Rotary minutes
for each meeting. Unfortunately I have been unable to attend the last
couple meeting due to my class schedule. Once my class schedule
changes next week, I will be more easily able to attend the meetings.
I have also been able to participate in some
of the weekend/evening Glen Waverely Church activities for the youth, as one
of the couples in the church is getting married this weekend.
I must return to class now. We have to
walk about 15 minutes to get to the Royal Children's Hospital where our next
lecture will take place.
I pray you are all doing well and have a
WONDERFUL meeting and rest of your week!
Sincerely,
Angela
